What to Expect at Argillà 2024
Since its inception in 2008 as a spin-off from the original Argilla event in Aubagne, France, Argillà Italia has grown into a biennial celebration that attracts over 300 exhibitors from 28 countries. This year, the festival will feature a remarkable array of activities and events:
-
Exhibition and Market: With 220 carefully selected exhibitors, including 129 Italian artists, the market showcases the best of contemporary ceramic art. The exhibition will be open late into the night, allowing visitors ample time to explore the diverse works on display.
-
Special Events and Competitions: Highlights include the "Mondiale Tornianti" (a potter's wheel competition), the EUraku competition (focusing on the Japanese Raku technique), and live demonstrations of 3D clay printing. International artists will perform throughout the festival, adding dynamic, creative energy to the event.
-
Workshops and Demonstrations: Engage with the art form through hands-on workshops, outdoor firing demonstrations, and thematic exhibitions. These events offer a deeper understanding of the techniques and craftsmanship involved in ceramic art.
-
Guest of Honor: Each edition of Argillà features a guest country, and this year, the spotlight will be on the Baltic States, following Ireland's honor in 2022. This special focus will bring unique perspectives and styles to the festival, enriching the overall experience.
