Art Food 2014 in New York

Third Exhibition, now in “South Gallery” at Pratt Institute, New York, USA. Opening – 10.11.2014.

“Art Food 2014 is an international design competition, a challenge for ceramic design students and the answer to new requirements in the culinary culture, which has in recent years developed new trends and styles. Traditional plates and bowls are no longer sufficient to the creativity and imagination of chefs. There is a high demand for new ceramic serving objects and the Art Food Project aims to fill this gap.

The second edition of Art Food gives students of three universities a unique opportunity to produce the design work in the Polish Porcelain Industries Cmielow and Chodziez JSC during the 3-week summer residency. It enables students to learn about the design process in realistic conditions and in close collaboration with the manufacturer as well as the chefs.

Works of following designers are featured:
ALDANA FERRER GARCIA
KAROLINA BEDNORZ
SUKYUNG LEE
JOANA CARTAXO
NADINE FOIK
MARTA DACHOWSKA
TERESA MILEWICZ
PATRYCJA ŚLIWIŃSKA
AMANDA TONG
ADRI KELLY
BRIDGETTE CHAN” (from FB event page)

About “Aloe Bianca“: From March to July I worked on creating a new ware to enjoy eating.
I wanted to take user of my pieces into past, when only food humans could gain was from bushes. Collecting it with family and friends makes them bond, probably also creates a opportunity to talk…

The ware were made by me in Ćmielów Design Studio during 3 weeks of residency with students from Wrocław Academy of Fine Art and Design in Wrocław, Central Saint Martins College in London, Pratt Institute in New York
